Friday Health Plans, Inc. Winding Down Business

What Happened?

Friday Health Plans, Inc., the parent company of Friday Health Plan of Colorado, ,Inc. (HMO), has announced that it will begin to wind down its business activities throughout the country, working in close conjunction with state regulators, including the Colorado Division of Insurance.

In recent months, it became apparent that the parent company would need to raise substantial capital to continue. Friday was ultimately unable to raise that capital and on June 1, Friday Health Plans, Inc. (Parent) stated publicly that they would begin to wind down.

First Wave of Nevada Medicaid Redeterminations Happening Now

(CARSON CITY, Nev.) – As the state unwinds from the federal public health emergency, the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) has begun the reevaluation of all Medicaid enrollments for the first time since 2020 during which you may lose coverage under Medicaid. In April, the first wave of recipients received their renewal packets in the mail. Those who did not respond or who no longer qualify based on income or other factors will lose their benefits starting June 1, 2023. An estimated 200,000 Nevadans may be redetermined ineligible for Medicaid benefits over the next 14 months, but NevadaHealthLink.com has options to keep them insured

Nevada Health Link Enrolled 96,379 Nevadans in Health Insurance During Open Enrollment

(CARSON CITY, NV) – Nevada Health Link is excited to announce that 96,379 Nevadans have enrolled in qualified, affordable health insurance plans during this year’s Open Enrollment Period (OEP), which ran from November 1, 2022 through January 15, 2023.

Of the over 96,000 Nevadans who enrolled in health insurance plans through NevadaHealthLink.com, 18,117 were new enrollees, meaning they were not previously enrolled in a plan on the marketplace.

“We are thrilled that thousands of Nevadans have taken advantage of their health and financial protection by enrolling in health plans this Open Enrollment,” said Ryan High, Executive Director of Nevada Health Link. “Our top priority is ensuring Nevadans are protected and have access to quality coverage and health care.”

Nevadans have until January 15 at 11:59 p.m. to enroll in health and dental plans for 2023

WHAT: Less than one week remains to enroll in qualified, affordable health and dental coverage through NevadaHealthLink.com, the online health insurance marketplace operated by the state agency, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (Exchange). Open Enrollment began on November 1, 2022 and ends on January 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

90% of Nevadans who shop for plans through Nevada Health Link qualify for premium tax credits to help lower the costs of monthly premiums. Nearly half of all Nevadans with plans through Nevada Health Link have plans under $100 per month.

Since November 1, 43,546 Nevadans have actively enrolled or re-enrolled in one of the Exchange’s 163 Qualified Health Plans (QHP) for Plan Year 2023.

Nevadans can enroll in plans on NevadaHealthLink.com through January 15, 2023

(CARSON CITY, Nev.) – The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) through NevadaHealthLink.com is the most convenient time for Nevadans to enroll or make changes to their qualified health and dental plans; this year 17,925 Nevadans have enrolled in plans in the first 30 days of open enrollment. The 2023 Plan Year OEP began on November 1 and runs through January 15, 2023.

Since transitioning away from the federal health insurance marketplace, HealthCare.gov, and becoming a State-Based Exchange (SBE) in 2019, the Exchange has focused on expanding the online marketplace by adding new Qualified Health Plan (QHP) options and insurance carriers. This year, 37 new health insurance plan options have been added, bringing to a total of 163 QHPs across seven private insurance carriers.
