Minnesota: MNsure Announces SEP for Strategic Limited Partners Policyholders
via MNsure, Minnesota's ACA exchange (email only for now):
Minnesota residents affected by the end of Strategic Limited Partners coverage can enroll in new health insurance through MNsure
ST. PAUL, Minn.—MNsure is opening a limited special enrollment period (SEP) for Minnesota residents who purchased insurance through Strategic Limited Partners offsite of the MNsure website. The SEP follows enforcement action by the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Commerce found that Strategic Limited Partners, an unlicensed company, sold unauthorized and deceptive health coverage to Minnesotans through misleading ads. Under a consent order, Strategic Limited Partners must cease operations by December 31, 2025, notify customers of its exit, repay outstanding claims, and pay a civil penalty.
To protect affected consumers, MNsure is offering this limited SEP:
- Eligibility: Consumers who attest that their Strategic Limited Partners coverage ended on or after November 1, 2025.
- How to enroll: Consumers must call MNsure at 651-539-2099 (or 855-366-7873 outside the Twin Cities) to access this SEP.
- Coverage start dates: Retroactive to November 1, 2025, or the first of the month after plan selection.
- Deadline: Consumers must apply and enroll by December 31, 2025.
“Consumers deserve the peace of mind that comes with a MNsure-certified health insurance plan,” said MNsure CEO Libby Caulum. “This special enrollment period allows Minnesotans impacted by this company to transition into comprehensive, regulated coverage without delay.”
MNsure, the official health insurance marketplace, also reminds Minnesotans to be on the alert for fake health insurance deals, particularly in light of these recent enforcement actions. Three tips to confirm you’re working with MNsure:
- Check the website URL. Always go directly to MNsure.org. Be cautious of look-alike sites.
- Use MNsure’s free cost estimator. You can shop anonymously without giving your phone number. Be wary of sites that require your phone number, which may lead to unwanted calls.
- Watch out for unsolicited calls. MNsure will never cold call you to sell insurance, ask for payment, or request sensitive information like your Social Security number or bank account details.
Consumers with questions about their rights under the settlement agreement should contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce at 651-539-1500.
