  • The bill extends enhanced subsidies for three more years and helps bring down costs for Connecticut residents who need financial help to pay for the cost of their health insurance premiums

HARTFORD, Conn. ( August 12, 2022) — Access Health CT (AHCT), Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace, today announced Connecticut residents who purchase health insurance on the exchange will continue to receive enhanced subsidies thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The enhanced subsidies, which were set to expire at the end of the year, are advanced premium tax credits that help Connecticut residents pay for the cost of their monthly health insurance payments. This financial help is now extended for three more years.

“The Inflation Reduction Act [IRA] brings down costs for Connecticut residents who purchase health insurance from Access Health CT,” said James Michel, Chief Executive Officer of Access Health CT. “We would like to thank our legislators, including our Senators Richard Blumenthal and Christopher Murphy, Congressman John Larson and our other Congressional Representatives, Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes, as well as Governor Ned Lamont, for their support of this bill. They have been fierce advocates for the health of Connecticut residents and have helped Access Health CT raise awareness about the financial help now available to them immediately, and through plan year 2025. These inflation-fighting savings make a difference, not only in our residents’ wallets, but to keep them healthy today and into the future.”

AHCT encourages all people to visit to shop, compare and enroll in a quality health insurance plan and determine if they qualify for low- or no-cost programs, including HUSKY Health and the Covered CT Program. Even if Connecticut residents do not qualify for these programs, they may still qualify for financial help to pay for the cost of health insurance.

Connecticut residents can also find out if they are eligible for the Covered CT Program by completing an application online at and can find free help online, in person or by phone.
