Re: Expiration of Premium Tax Credits Survey – Targeted Congressional Districts

Our survey of voters in the most competitive Congressional Districts shows Republicans have an opportunity to overcome a current generic ballot deficit and take the lead by extending the healthcare premium tax credits for those who purchase health insurance for themselves. Without Congressional action, the tax credit expires this year.

While the 2024 outcome for these districts was even, the generic Republican is down 3-points among all registered voters. Among those most motivated to vote, an early indication of vote likelihood in the midterms, the Republican is down 7-points. If the Republican candidate lets the premium tax credit expire, the Republican trails the Democrat by 15-points. There is broad bipartisan support for the tax credit and their extension.

Unlike recent changes to Medicaid which do not go into effect until after the midterm elections, voters on the individual insurance marketplace, who voted for Trump by 4-points, will begin getting notices of significant premium hikes this fall.

For what it's worth, there are 42 House Republicans who won by less than 15 points last year, 38 of which Donald Trump either lost or won by less than 15 points.

December 3rd, 2025: Trump pollster's healthcare advice for Republicans: Pivot to drug prices

A top pollster for President Donald Trump advised a group of House Republicans on how to defend against Democrats’ attacks over expiring Obamacare tax credits: focus on reducing drug prices instead.

Tony Fabrizio showed new polling to members of the Republican Study Committee in a closed-door meeting held a few blocks from the Capitol Wednesday. He argued the most effective way for Republicans to counter Democrats’ health care messaging is to change the subject and pivot to reducing drug prices in tandem with Trump.

...Notably, the House GOP aide said Fabrizio did not recommend any extension of the insurance subsidies, something he has advocated for in the past. The Trump administration has recently refocused attention on drug pricing, a topic the president tends to return to when Democrats try to hammer him on health care.

Yes, I'm sure that will solve the problem.
