Shop and Compare Health Coverage for 2022

ST. PAUL, Minn.—With open enrollment starting in less than three weeks, Minnesotans who need private health insurance can explore health and dental plans available for 2022 through MNsure, Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace.

MNsure’s open enrollment period starts November 1 and runs through January 15, 2022, but Minnesotans can use MNsure’s plan comparison tool now to preview insurance plans, compare options, and see what savings they may qualify for.

In every county, Minnesotans will have at least 19 separate health insurance plan options to choose from through MNsure.

“Every Minnesotan has a unique life story and circumstances that affect what kind of health care coverage is right for them,” said CEO Nate Clark. “A family’s size, income, and health care needs all play a role in the decision to sign up for coverage. And with so many options available, finding the right plan can seem like an overwhelming homework assignment. That’s why MNsure has free resources designed to help you get the coverage you need.”

MNsure’s statewide network of certified assisters can walk Minnesotans through the enrollment process from start to finish. Consumers are encouraged to visit MNsure.org and search “Find an assister” to get started with free enrollment help today.

Take another look

2022 is the best year yet for Minnesotans to take another look at MNsure. The federal American Rescue Plan legislation passed in March 2021 has expanded benefits that make health insurance more affordable for more Minnesotans. In fact, all eligible Minnesotans can find a plan through MNsure that will cost no more than 8.5% of their household income, regardless of how much they earn.

Minnesotans can access increased tax credits that lower monthly premiums, and more Minnesotans are now eligible to receive those discounts, including middle-income families who previously earned too much money to qualify—but these benefits are available only through MNsure.

More plans to choose from for 2022

Minnesotans across the state have an impressive range of choices for next year. For 2022, five health insurance companies are returning to partner with MNsure to offer qualified health plans for Minnesotans: Blue Plus, HealthPartners, Medica, Quartz and UCare. Dental plans also will be available from Delta Dental and Dentegra.

Overall,173 health and dental plans are available for 2022 through MNsure—10 more plans than in 2021—and all but seven counties have three or more insurers offering plans in their counties.

Using MNsure’s plan comparison tool, Minnesotans can explore details about monthly premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs and more. MNsure encourages consumers to take advantage of October’s preview opportunity to compare options so they are ready to sign up for coverage when open enrollment begins on November 1, 2021.
